DXF drawing online

Create and edit DXF drawings in a browser.

A DXF drawing is a CAD drawing stored or exchanged in the DXF format. DXFDraw provides a browser-based 2D CAD workspace for creating new drawings, opening supported DXF files, editing geometry and exporting supported content back to DXF.

Quick answer

You can create a DXF drawing from a blank browser workspace or open an existing supported DXF and continue editing it. Use drawing and modify tools, organize content with layers, add dimensions or hatch, then export the result to DXF.

What is a DXF drawing?

A DXF drawing contains CAD information represented in the Drawing Exchange Format. Depending on the file, that can include basic geometry such as lines, arcs and circles as well as polylines, text, layers and other CAD data.

Create a DXF drawing from scratch

  1. Open the DXFDraw browser workspace.
  2. Start a new drawing.
  3. Use line, rectangle, circle / ellipse, arc, spline and other 2D CAD tools.
  4. Use snap, grid and coordinates to control placement.
  5. Organize geometry with layers and available CAD properties.
  6. Add dimensions, text or hatch where needed.
  7. Export supported drawing content as DXF.

Edit an existing DXF drawing

If you already have a DXF, use Open File to load it and inspect the geometry. You can then use the available modify and property tools for supported content. For a step-by-step workflow, see how to edit a DXF file.

DXF drawings for CNC and laser workflows

DXF is widely used to exchange 2D geometry before CAM, CNC, laser, plasma, waterjet and other fabrication processes. The DXF itself is not a toolpath. Before production, check closed contours, units, duplicate geometry and downstream machine/CAM requirements. See DXF for CNC and laser cutting.

Do you need a DXF converter?

If your destination already accepts DXF, usually not. A converter becomes relevant when another application requires DWG, PDF or another target. See the DXF converter guide before adding an unnecessary conversion step.

DXF Drawing FAQ

Can I create a DXF drawing online?

Yes. DXFDraw provides a browser-based 2D CAD workspace for creating new technical drawings and exporting supported content to DXF.

Can I continue editing an existing DXF drawing?

Yes, for supported imported DXF content. Open the file, inspect the geometry and use the available editing tools.

Are DXF drawings used for CNC and laser cutting?

DXF is widely used to exchange 2D geometry into fabrication workflows, but machine and CAM requirements vary and should be verified before production.

Is a DXF drawing the same as a PDF drawing?

No. DXF is a CAD exchange format that can preserve structured drawing geometry, while PDF is primarily a document presentation format.
