Open the DXF in DXFDraw, select the object or objects you want to change, edit geometry or CAD properties, then export the updated drawing. For important production files, verify the exported DXF in the software that will use it next.
Step 1: open the DXF file
Use File → Open File and choose the DXF drawing. DXFDraw reads supported DXF content into the browser workspace so you can inspect the drawing before making changes.
Step 2: select and inspect the drawing
Select geometry and review its available Layer, Color, Linetype, Lineweight, Transparency and geometry settings in Properties. This is useful before editing because an object may inherit its appearance from its layer rather than use an explicit value.
Step 3: edit geometry
Draw
Add lines, rectangles, circles / ellipses, arcs, splines, text, grids and hatch where supported.
Modify
Use move, copy, trim, erase, offset, fillet, chamfer and tangent-arc workflows for practical corrections.
Dimensions
Create linear, aligned, angular, radius, diameter, chamfer and leader dimensions.
Layers
Organize drawing content and work with layer-based CAD appearance properties.
Step 4: export and verify
When the edit is complete, export supported drawing content back to DXF. If the drawing will continue into AutoCAD, CAM, CNC, laser cutting or another production workflow, reopen the exported file in the destination software and check units, layers, contours and critical geometry.

Do I need a DXF converter to edit a DXF?
Not if the editor already opens DXF directly. A converter is useful when the destination software requires a different file format. If your goal is simply to inspect or modify supported DXF geometry, opening the DXF directly avoids an unnecessary conversion step. Read the DXF converter guide for more detail.

How to Edit DXF FAQ
Can I edit a DXF file online for free?
DXFDraw provides browser-based viewing and editing tools for supported DXF content without requiring installation.
What can I change in a DXF?
Available editing depends on the imported content. DXFDraw provides drawing, modify, layer, hatch, dimension and CAD property tools for supported objects.
Should I convert DXF before editing it?
Usually not when your editor opens DXF directly. Convert only when another application or workflow requires a different target format.
Should I verify an edited DXF before manufacturing?
Yes. Always verify critical production drawings in the downstream CAD, CAM or machine-preparation software before production.
